The
most eastern town on the East Devon Coast, Seaton is renowned for it's magnificent
stretch of beach, and the quaint harbour of Axmouth, situated on the outstanding
Axe Estuary. Whether you are looking for a calm, relaxing visit, an exhilarating
one, or anything in between, you can be sure that Seaton has something to appeal,
and will certainly make you feel welcome with it's warm, friendly atmosphere.
The sheltered coastal area around Seaton is also of great scientific and educational
importance, with remarkable coastal geology and a varied and complex marine topography,
including reefs. The land & marine environments are also home to an amazing range
of plant and animal life. These noteworthy features have resulted in this
coastline being designated Heritage Coast, Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty,
a National Nature Reserve and various Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
Seaton beach is an EU designated beach, and one of the cleanest in the area, which
makes it ideal for both lazing, bathing and a number of water sports, including
canoeing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, jet and water skiing and yachting. Scuba
diving is also popular, launching from the estuary slipways. Anglers and
sea fishers are well catered for; with the estuary and water access. Local fishermen
in both Seaton & the nearby town of Beer offer sea fishing trips. Shore fishing
is also possible to the West of the harbour mouth, minimizing conflict with swimmers
and local water craft. (Do note that a permit is needed for estuary fishing and
river fishing) Permits are available from the Esso Garage opposite the Yacht Club.
There are also cafes, bars & licensed restaurants, as well as many delightful
country pubs in the neighbouring area, for a pleasant afternoon drink or meal.
Seaton offers a wide range of accommodation types for all. Whether serviced
or self catering, camping or guesthouses, something can be found to suit your
needs. As mentioned above, there are many things to do and days out in
and around Seaton, particularly water sports, but there are also many other local
attractions for all interests. The Grove Nite Club Seaton Devon two dance
