Stuart having first met up with Screaming Lord Sutch whilst doing a show together at the Tavern Dorchester in 1975 soon struck up a great friendship that saw them doing gigs together up and down the country. On Valentines Night in 1979 Sutch opened Olivers Night Club in Yeovil with his band the Savages where Stuart was manager. That night whilst sitting in the lounge of the Three Choughs Hotel Sutch asked Stuart if he would like to stand for his National Teenage Party. At that time he declined the offer as he didn't have the time but gave an assurance that he would if time permitted and having moved to Sidmouth in 1985 to manage Carinas Night Club he booked Sutch to perform and following the gig joined his Monster Raving Loony Party. The HQ was in Ashburton at the Golden Lion Hotel where the landlord Alan Hope was the spitting image of Boss Hogg.
