You would never believe that the Performing Rights
Society would be gunning for one man businesses who have their
radio's on.... but this is a true fact. By all accounts any business
that has a radio playing music has to cough up £150 or more a year
for a license..... and oh yes the weather it looks as though the
prediction by the weather experts about this summer (reported in
previous blog) is coming true with more rain and lower
temperatures, and by all accounts there's more in store....well
that's certainly put the paid to this years tourism economy.

The Radway is the place to be this Saturday evening
between 8.00pm and Midnight when I shall be doing a disco.... this
is the first gig that I have done in and around Sidmouth which has
been open to the public and its going to be a really great night as
it is a 70's theme night, and yes 70's music ALL NIGHT LONG. Be
prepared for the sounds from GLAM ROCK stars such as Sweet, Slade,
Bowie, Glitter Band, Mott the Hoople, Wizzard, and sensational soul
sounds from Tavares, The O'Jays, Glady's Knight just to name a few.
There's Saturday Night Fever, Grease and many Disco greats..... you
gonna be there? Course you are..... www.stuart-hughes.co.uk

The oil tanker drivers strike is taking its toll on
the economy with garages running short or running out of fuel. As
far as tourism is concerned it will spell disaster if it isn't
sorted pretty soon..... I'm already hearing from accommodation
providers who are being affected not only by the shortage of fuel
but also the price. One local caravan park owner has received
several calls from once regular visitors to Sidmouth saying that
instead of coming five or six times during the summer that they will
have no alternative but to reduce to one or two visits..... just
think how much this is going to cost our local economy as the effect
will reverberate throughout all businesses and we could well see
many going to the wall.

Wind farms off of our coast in Lyme Bay! This is
something that Crown Estates are promoting.. however I was under the
impression that any such proposal for Lyme Bay had been kicked into
touch due to the uncertainty of how the Navy practice in the bay,
also the pilots going in and out of Brixham.
I belive that any such scheme should be kicked into touch after all
imagine the devastation that would be caused if a ship coming into
Lyme Bay to take shelter from a storm should hit one of these wind
turbines... oiled beaches would devatate our tourism economy. These
are also rich fishing grounds. There is no problem with the North
Devon Atlantic Array scheme which would see in excess of 350
turbines erected on the seabed.
